Former President Donald Trump has accused former GOP Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney of destroying evidence related to the Jan. 6 Capitol riots, which he claims has greatly affected the work of his defense team.

Trump made his accusation on Truth Social, his social media platform, and claimed that the former congresswoman had illegally destroyed the evidence from the Jan. 6 committee. The investigation into the Capitol protest is one of the many legal battles the former president is facing going into 2024.

“All of the information on Crazy Nancy Pelosi turning down 10,000 soldiers that I offered to to guard the Capitol Building, and beyond, is gone,” Trump’s statement read. “The ridiculous Deranged Jack Smith case on Immunity, which the most respected legal minds in the Country say I am fully entitled to, is now completely compromised and should be thrown out and terminated, JUST LIKE THE RADICAL LEFT LUNATICS DID TO THE EVIDENCE!”

Cheney has denied deleting any evidence, claiming that he and his lawyers have had the Jan. 6 committee materials for several months.

“Lying about the evidence in all caps won’t change the facts,” Cheney’s statement read. “A public trial will show it all.”

Seems like someone is starting 2024 hangry. @realDonaldTrump – you and your lawyers have had the J6 cmttee materials (linked below) plus the grand jury info & much more for months. Lying about the evidence in all caps won’t change the facts. A public trial will show it all. https://t.co/9IlGWIviey

Cheney was one of 10 Republicans who voted to impeach Trump following the Capitol riots. Since leaving Congress in 2023, she has advocated against Trump, warning that he would not leave the White House if he is elected president again.

Last month, Cheney revealed that she is considering a possible third-party run in the 2024 presidential election in an attempt to stop Trump’s return to the White House. The former congresswoman stated that she would make a final decision on the issue within the next few months.
