Trump announces 12 billion in assistance to farmers
President Donald Trump reaffirmed his support for the agricultural sector by announcing a $12 billion economic assistance package aimed at providing stability for American farmers. He emphasized that farmers are “the backbone of the country” and stated that this relief will help bring this year’s harvest to market, plan for next year’s crops, and continue lowering food prices for families.
Trump harshly criticized the impact of the Biden administration, asserting that under “Sleepy Joe Biden,” farmers were hit by the worst inflation in modern history and by harmful restrictions on energy, water, and countless other essential resources. He recalled that during his first term, the United States recorded a large agricultural trade surplus, which Biden turned into a “deep deficit.”
The president stated that his administration is already reversing that situation and highlighted that China is purchasing large quantities of soybeans, noting that President Xi Jinping even intends to exceed the commitments he previously made. Trump concluded by expressing optimism about the sector’s recovery and the strength of trade relations.
