Trump claims Christie did not receive offer in administration

Former President Donald Trump criticized former Gov. Chris Christie, saying he launched his presidential campaign for a second time because he did not get a job within Trump’s administration in 2016.

Christie ran for president in 2016 but ultimately suspended his campaign and endorsed Trump. The former governor even helped along the campaign trail. However, the relationship between the two has strained to the point that Christie faced hecklers during Saturday’s Florida Freedom Summit.

“I heard they virtually booed him off the stage,” Trump said of Christie at the same summit. “What’s it all about? Is he just doing it because I didn’t give him a job in the administration?”

Previously, Christie claimed that he had received offers to serve on Trump’s cabinet but he rejected them.

While Trump spoke, another heckler shouted out, calling the former governor of New Jersey a “fat pig.”

“Sir, I am sorry, he is not a fat pig. He is not a fat pig. No, it is true, and you can’t — you can’t use the term fat. You’re allowed to use the word pig, but not fat,” Trump said. “No, the man just said: ‘He’s a fat pig,’ and I said: ‘No, he’s not a fat pig.’ So now, the press can’t kill me because all I’m doing is responding.”

Former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson nearly got booed off the stage Saturday for suggesting that Trump could be convicted of any one of the various federal charges he’s facing.

Trump, Christie, and Hutchinson are facing off against Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND), entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, and former governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley in the race for the Republican nomination.
