Former President Donald Trump railed against President Joe Biden after his administration reversed its policy on building walls on the southern border.
The Department of Homeland Security said in a notice on Thursday that it will start 10 projects to install tall slatted barriers and roads for about 20 miles in South Texas. The former president blasted his successor in a post on Thursday, saying that he awaits Biden’s “apology.”
BIDEN REVERSES COURSE AND BUILDS BORDER WALL WITH TRUMP FUNDING
“So interesting to watch Crooked Joe Biden break every environmental law in the book to prove that I was right when I built 560 miles (they incorrectly state 450 in story!) of brand new, beautiful border wall. As I have stated often, over thousands of years, there are only two things that have consistently worked, wheels, and walls! Will Joe Biden apologize to me and America for taking so long to get moving, and allowing our country to be flooded with 15 million illegals immigrants, from places unknown. I will await his apology!” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
The Biden administration halted border wall construction shortly after taking office in January 2021 as they studied if additional border wall was necessary. The funds being used to construct this new border wall will be used from appropriations allocated by Congress in 2019 under the Trump administration.
“The Secretary of Homeland Security has determined, pursuant to law, that it is necessary to waive certain laws, regulations, and other legal requirements in order to ensure the expeditious construction of barriers and roads in the vicinity of the international land border in Starr County, Texas,” DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said in the notice announcing the 10 new projects.
Trump has been a frequent critic of Biden’s border policy, vowing significant changes to immigration processes and claiming he would have the “largest domestic deportation operation in American history.”
