Trump deploys Vance to dog Harris and her VP pick on campaign trail – Washington Examiner

Former President Donald Trump is sending Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) as an attack dog against Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate on the campaign trail.

Vance, aiming to take the charge against Harris’s running mate, is set to make appearances in parallel with the Democratic candidates for three days across four battleground states, Politico reported. This will start with an event in Philadelphia on Tuesday, which corresponds with the first joint rally by Harris and her soon-to-be-announced running mate.

A person familiar with the matter said Vance’s events will have sections in which he speaks with the media, making them events rather than rallies. “Everyday Americans” affected by the Biden administration will take center stage.

Vance is expected to focus his attacks on three crucial elements of Harris’s record — immigration, crime, and the economy — three topics consistently ranked as some of voters’ biggest concerns.

After beginning in Philadelphia on Tuesday, Vance will continue on Wednesday to Detroit and Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and then Raleigh, North Carolina, on Thursday.

After a rough start as Trump’s running mate, characterized by blistering media coverage and wavering from some Republican allies, the Ohio Republican has sought to be an aggressive campaigner for the Republican ticket, holding events across the country and participating in media appearances. In the coming weeks, he plans to appear in media outlets that are more hostile to the Trump campaign.

Harris is set to announce her running mate sometime before her Tuesday rally, with top contenders including Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), Govs. Andy Beshear (D-KY), Josh Shapiro (D-PA), and Tim Walz (D-MN), and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

The rally will be occurring in Shapiro’s home state.
