At this stage of the 2024 presidential election, it can’t get much clearer.
According to the Trump campaign’s longtime pollster, McLaughlin & Associates:
- Former President Donald Trump has his biggest primary lead yet, 47 points, over Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, both stuck at 8%.
- Most Republican voters — 76% — want to end the GOP debates and have the focus turned to Trump versus President Joe Biden.
- Trump has one of his widest leads yet over Biden, 48%-43%.
- A majority view the Biden presidency as a disaster.
- A sizable majority believe that politics has played a role in the Justice Department’s targeting of Trump, and 56% believe it was Biden who sicced the dogs on his rival.
- By nearly 2-1, voters feel Justice and the IRS are giving Biden and his family special treatment while dropping the hammer on the president’s enemies.

“If the election were today, it would be Trump in a landslide,” pollster John McLaughlin told Secrets.

In their latest survey, brothers John and Jim McLaughlin found growing voter anger at how the economy, politics, and foreign affairs have soured since Biden took office. And despite the president’s best efforts to spin his efforts in a positive light through his “Bidenomics” and other infrequent campaign stops around the country, most aren’t buying it.

“We had predicted that Joe Biden would fail and there would be buyer’s remorse among the voters, but we never predicted Biden would fail this badly and catastrophically,” John McLaughlin said.
“Almost all voters say the country is on the wrong track. Two in 3 say the economy is getting worse. Four in 5 have been negatively impacted by inflation. Almost half can’t afford basic necessities. On top of that, the illegal immigration, crime, and national security concerns are hurting Biden — then there’s Biden family corruption charges. No wonder Biden’s persecution of Trump is backfiring,” he added.
