Trump implies he could serve a third term during speech to NRA supporters – Washington Examiner

Presidential candidate Donald Trump was speaking to the National Rifle Association when he made the suggestion he could serve a third term in office.

Trump rallied the Dallas, Texas, crowd by asking them what they thought of a third term.

“You know, FDR 16 years, almost 16 years, he was four-term. I don’t know, are we going to be considered three-term or two-term?” Trump asked. “Are we three-term or two-term if we win?”

The crowd met him with chants of “three.” At the annual meeting, the NRA endorsed Trump for president in November’s election.

Trump has long denied he would attempt to subvert the 22nd Amendment, which, since 1951, only allows a president to serve two terms. The former president said in an interview last month that he “wouldn’t be in favor of a challenge.”

Former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt is the only president to have served for more than two terms, serving as president for 16 years total.
