Trump mocks Biden’s trips to the beach: ‘I have a much better body than him’

Former President Donald Trump took aim at his chief political rival’s fitness and supposed frailty during a rally in Waterloo, Iowa, on Saturday.

A noticeably high-spirited Trump was initially speaking about former President Jimmy Carter, saying he would be considered a success in office today compared to President Joe Biden, before launching into a tangent about Biden’s trips to the beach.

“He’s got a consultant somewhere — this is the worst consultant in politics — that thinks he looks good in a bathing suit,” he said. “He spends so much time at the beach. I mean, how do you do that? And, you know, I have a much better body than him. But I’m not really sure that I want to expose it with the Sun blaring down and the sand, the surf, the wind … I mean, you know, it’s not a pretty sight.”

The audience laughed, and Trump kept riffing.

“And they make those chairs, they’re actually miracles, they weigh like three ounces, and they’re meant for a child to carry,” he said. “A child, or a very old person, very old. I mean like really old. And they weigh like ounces, you know, he can’t lift it!”

Though 77 himself, Trump has made Biden’s age, 80, and health constant talking points in his campaign to retake the White House in 2024, frequently mocking him for physical mishaps, such as falling off his bike, or verbal gaffes. Polls have indicated voters are worried about the advanced ages of the two men most likely to meet in the general election for president in 2024, though more respondents say they are worried about Biden’s mental and physical integrity than Trump’s. That unease apparently extends to the upper echelons of the Democratic Party, where strategists have admitted that Biden’s age could weaken support for his reelection bid.

As he often does, the former president put his struggle against Biden in starkly physical terms.

“Remember when he said, ‘I’d like to take him to the back of the barn’?” Trump asked mockingly about Biden. He then said he could knock Biden over by blowing gently in his direction.

“He’d go down. No, I really think so,” Trump said.
