House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) endorsed former President Donald Trump on Tuesday, delivering his campaign a major win just two weeks from the Iowa caucuses.

“When Donald Trump was President, American workers and families were thriving,” Scalise said in a statement to Fox News.

BIDEN IS DEALING WITH THE WORST BORDER CRISIS EVER. SHOULD THE GOP HELP HIM?

The endorsement is a safe one, as Trump leads by a sizable margin in just about every poll, and he is widely expected to run away with the nomination and take on President Joe Biden in November.

“In this race, there is one man who has a proven track record of being able to save our country and get us back on track: Donald Trump,” Scalise said.

I am proud to endorse Donald Trump for president in 2024, and I look forward to working with President Trump and a Republican House and Senate to fight for those families who are struggling under the weight of Biden’s failed policies.https://t.co/FTmUcORccr

“He has done it once before, and I know he will do it again,” Scalise continued.

“I am proud to endorse Donald Trump for president in 2024, and I look forward to working with President Trump and a Republican House and Senate to fight for those families who are struggling under the weight of Biden’s failed policies,” the Louisiana congressman added.

He further cited what the former president did for the economy, as well as his foreign policy record and policies regarding the southern border. Scalise compared those to Biden’s record on the same matters, claiming in the comparison that Trump made the United States stronger.

Trump has the endorsement of three of the top four House Republicans. Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and House Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY) endorsed earlier in the primary season.

While leading his opponents overwhelmingly in the polls, Trump also leads them in terms of endorsements, boasting more than 100 supporters in the House and Senate. Scalise’s endorsement marks the 94th from a member of the House.

In comparison, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has five endorsements from Republican congressmen, while former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley has one from Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC). No other competitors have congressional endorsements.

The first Republican nominating contest will take place on Jan. 15 in Iowa.
