Protesters demanding action on climate change attempted on Sunday to disrupt former President Donald Trump’s final rally before the Iowa caucuses.
Trump is in Iowa for the last full day of campaigning before voters head to their designated caucus locations to begin ranking candidates. The attempted protest took place at his rally in Indianola, located in suburban Des Moines, on Sunday afternoon.
“Trump, you’re taking millions,” a female protester could be heard shouting before being drowned out by cheers from the crowd.
“Thank you, darling,” Trump replied, adding, “Go home to mommy.”
The former president was not the only 2024 candidate who faced a heckler on Sunday.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, whose campaign has been beset by struggling poll numbers, was at an event in Iowa earlier in the day when a comedian known for public stunts targeting right-wing figures interrupted to hand him a “participation trophy” for the race.

“Gov. DeSantis, I want to present to you this participation trophy,” Davram Stiefler, a member of the duo “the Good Liars,” said to laughter from the crowd. “Now you’re probably not going to win the election, right? But we’re proud of you for trying.”
“I don’t do participation trophies, sorry buddy. Sorry buddy, sorry,” DeSantis replied, pushing away the trophy, as his wife, Casey DeSantis, motioned at security to escort him out.
