Trump’s ‘unifying’ Bronx rally further proof of his lead over Biden: Sarah Bedford – Washington Examiner

The Washington Examiner‘s Sarah Bedford predicted that presidential candidate Donald Trump’s recent Bronx rally will help him win over more voters who previously voted for President Joe Biden.

Bedford appeared on Fox Business’s Cavuto: Coast to Coast on Friday to offer an analysis of Trump’s appearance in the New York borough the day prior. While New York did not vote for Trump in either the 2020 or 2016 elections, and Bedford predicted Trump could still lose the state, she pointed to his speech as being a “unifying message” that could appeal to voting blocks Democratic candidates tend to rely on.

“In terms of Donald Trump eating into President Biden’s lead, among voters of color, black and Hispanic voters, in 2020, President Biden carried black voters by 92%. The latest polling shows he’s only carrying them by 77% right now,” Bedford pointed out. “Donald Trump is picking that up, and it just doesn’t take much erosion at the margins of those voting blocks for Donald Trump to beat Joe Biden.”

“Last night, Donald Trump only brought up his trial one time and, only as an aside. He focused on the economy, he focused on the future — a unifying message to Americans of all races and ethnic backgrounds. That kind of message I think has is proven successful,” Bedford added.

Trump was able to draw a crowd in New York City despite bad weather earlier in the day and the district’s traditional political leaning. A Republican city council member won a seat for the first time in 50 years. However, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is in the middle of her third term and has won every election with over 70% of the vote.

The last time the state elected a Republican for president was in 1984 when Ronald Reagan won the White House for the second time. Reagan also made a campaign stop in the Bronx ahead of his first New York win in 1980.
