Daily Caller co-founder Tucker Carlson responded Tuesday to suggestions that he should host a Republican primary debate.

Carlson said he would gladly serve as moderator in response to a question from journalist Alex Lorusso, who floated the idea during a Twitter Space on Tuesday.

“Oh gosh, of course I would. Of course, I would. Yeah, that sounds fun as hell! I absolutely would. I mean, it would, I think have to be outside the RNC’s jurisdiction, and that would be good,” Carlson said.

“If anyone present can see a purpose for the RNC to continue to exist, um, just shoot me a text,” Carlson continued. “The RNC’s like NATO. You know, it has no reason for being. It only consumes resources and says annoying things and breaks things. But, there’s sort of no reason to have it, you know what I mean?”

I asked @TuckerCarlson if he’d be willing to host a GOP debate with Joe Rogan and Elon Musk.

In his question, Lorusso cited GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, railed against the RNC during the third Republican presidential debate in November, suggesting that Carlson should be moderating the event alongside Elon Musk and Joe Rogan. Ramaswamy predicted that his suggested lineup would attract “10 times the viewership” of the RNC-sanctioned debate.  (RELATED: ‘Fickle World’: Tucker Carlson Explains Why He Can’t Rely On Advertisers)

RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel shrugged off Ramaswamy’s attacks on her leadership of the RNC as well as his call for her resignation, telling Fox News host Stuart Varney that “he’s [polling] at four percent, he needs a headline.”
