At least two suspects were arrested following a Thursday smash-and-grab burglary at a high-end Dior store in San Francisco’s Union Square, authorities said.

Officers with the San Francisco Police Department were alerted to the incident around 6:49 a.m., and a witness said at least three had stopped in front of the store before one drove right into it, according to a report.

The exterior windows of the store were smashed, and the security gate in front of Dior was damaged, the report noted.

At least one witness informed authorities that several suspects had exited the three vehicles, entered Dior, and left with products, police said.

After the criminals fled, a description of the vehicles was shared, and an officer spotted one attempting to merge onto a freeway, according to the report.

It crashed, and the suspects attempted to run away from the scene, but two were tracked by officers and taken into custody.

The exact number of suspects involved in the Dior smash-and-grab hasn’t been confirmed, and there is an investigation into the incident.

“Our city will not tolerate criminals ransacking our businesses,” San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott said in a statement addressing the city’s retail theft “blitz.”

“Not only are these crimes devastating to our business community and local economy, too often, we’ve seen these crimes escalate into violence. I want to thank our hardworking officers who are making sure our city is a safe place for businesses and shoppers.”
