UPDATED: U.S Capitol Police Respond to a Suspicious Vehicle Outside Capitol — Public Urged to Avoid Area, Everything Around Capitol Shut Down (VIDEO)

Could the U.S. Capitol be the next target for a terror attack?
U.S. Capitol Police just a short time ago discovered a highly suspicious vehicle parked in the area of Constitution Avenue and Third Street, NW.
“Our officers just responded to the area of Constitution Avenue and Third Street, NW, for a suspicious vehicle,” the U.S Capitol Police Account reads. “Please avoid the area while we investigate.”

Police are also closing off the walkways.

The public is being urged to avoid the area while the police investigate.
Capitol Police confirmed to White House reporter Monica Paige that someone was driving a vehicle erratically onto the sidewalk and decided to shut everything around the Capitol down.

UPDATE: Capitol Police reveal the suspect is now in custody. They are continuing to investigate the car.
Before 10 a.m., our officers spotted a car that had been driving along the sidewalk, near Peace Circle, and into the grassy area near Third Street, NW, & Constitution Avenue. UPDATE #2: The Capitol Police have cleared the car and declared it safe. Roads in the area will soon re-open.
Our bomb squad cleared the car and declared that it is safe. The driver is being arrested for reckless driving. Please continue to avoid the area, while our investigators continue their work.
