‘View’ host forced to read a legal note on-air about DOJ investigation of Matt Gaetz – Washington Examiner

During a recent episode of “The View,” the panel discussed President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet selections. They mocked the selections and even jokingly insinuated Trump’s choices were based on vanity and aesthetics rather than legitimate qualifications.

“It’s a TV Cabinet. Maybe he’s doing it because he wants to make sure they look good on screen, co-host Whoopi Goldberg suggested.

However, after that statement, Goldberg abruptly cut to co-host Sunny Hostin and stated that she had a legal note to read. It involved the Department of Justice’s investigation, and a legal clarification of sorts, of former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL).

NEW: The View host Sunny Hostin fumes as she is forced to read a legal note just minutes after presenting the Matt Gaetz allegations as a “fact.”

Hostin: They discussed the fact that once [Gaetz] finds out that she’s 17, he stops having s*x with her.

“I do have a legal note. Thank you, Whoopi,” Hostin said with an unpleasant look on her face before reading the statement.

“Matt Gaetz has long denied all allegations, calling the claims, quote, ‘invented,’ and saying in a statement to ABC News that ‘this false smear following a three-year criminal investigation should be viewed with great skepticism,’” Hostin said. “The DOJ investigation was closed with no charges being brought.”

The show then went to a commercial break.

Hostin’s legal note comes as “The View” hosts have regularly made critical remarks about Trump’s Cabinet choices, especially former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), whom the president-elect nominated for attorney general. Meanwhile, Gaetz is embroiled in controversy surrounding serious allegations that he had inappropriate relationships with an underage woman.

This relationship has been regularly referenced by “The View” hosts since Gaetz was announced as the nominee. They mentioned it again on Tuesday during their discussion about Trump’s Cabinet picks before Hostin read her legal note.

Regarding Trump’s choice of Gaetz, the President-elect gave a rousing endorsement of Gaetz on his Truth Social account after announcing him as his choice for attorney general.

“Few issues in America are more important than ending the partisan Weaponization of our Justice System,” Trump posted. “Matt will end Weaponized Government, protect our Borders, dismantle Criminal Organizations and restore Americans’ badly-shattered Faith and Confidence in the Justice Department.”
