Walmart Employee Helps Police Nab Man Who Allegedly Strangled Woman 5 Times That Day

A Walmart employee helped police arrest a man who allegedly strangled his girlfriend at least five times on Oct. 28, according to a Gage County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) press release.

On Oct. 28, GCSO deputies went to the Diamond T Truck Stop Camper Row along US HWY 77 around 5:45 p.m. local time in connection with the alleged assault, according to the press release. Deputies spoke with Hollie Carver, 47, who alleged that her boyfriend, Justis Barnhouse, 31, had strangled her five to six times that afternoon. The suspect seized her cell phone to prevent her from contacting law enforcement, the GCSO said.

Barnhouse allegedly spent two days preventing Carver from gathering her belongings and leaving Nebraska to return to Kansas. The pair traveled to the Walmart in Beatrice, Nebraska, where Carver secured an employee’s attention and asked them to follow her inside a bathroom, according to the GCSO. Carver provided information about the alleged strangulation to the employee who then told law enforcement.

This is not the only case in October of a Walmart employee contacting authorities over allegations of domestic violence. Authorities charged Harrison Coleman, 50, of Maine after he allegedly kidnapped his ex-girlfriend and threatened her with death if she didn’t shoplift from a local Walmart on his behalf, NBC Boston reported on Oct. 30.

The woman approached workers at the Walmart about the alleged threatening, who reached out to an on-duty officer working in the parking lot, according to the outlet. Coleman was apprehended and faces charges of kidnapping, domestic violence assault and domestic violence criminal threatening.

The Daily Caller contacted the Gage County Sheriff’s Office, who did not immediately comment.
