Washington Examiner’s Tiana Doescher argues voters know how Trump and Biden have handled economy – Washington Examiner

The Washington Examiner’s Tiana Lowe Doescher argued Wednesday that the economy will likely be a key factor in whom voters cast their vote for this November, as they are aware of how it was under both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.

Many are anticipating a rematch between Biden and Trump in the presidential election, as Biden is seeking reelection and Trump is currently the presumptive nominee for the Republican Party. Doescher stated she believes the economy provides an advantage to Trump, as voters experienced lower unemployment and interest rates under Trump’s leadership.

“Under Joe Biden, prices have increased about 18% on average, and even though Biden has claimed that inflation is slowing, look, in just the last month alone, CPI inflation, wholesale inflation, which is the leading indicator, both have increased,” Doescher explained on Fox News’s Your World with Neil Cavuto. “PCE inflation, which is what the Federal Reserve cares about, and that’s why you have these bond markets collapsing because investors understand that as Steve said, the dragon is not tamed.”

Doescher also claimed that both Biden and Congressional Democrats have understood that many voters are unsatisfied with the current U.S. economy, noting how they have stopped using the term “Bidenomics” to showcase the president’s handling of the economy.

The economy is one of several issues that Trump is leading Biden on based on recent polling, with Trump getting 54% compared to Biden’s 34% when recipients were asked who would handle it the best. Trump also led Biden on border security, as well as mental fitness to serve as president.

One topic that Biden led Trump on is abortion, with the president leading 45% to Trump’s 33%. The 2024 election will be the first presidential election since Roe v. Wade was overturned, meaning abortion access could provide Biden an advantage against Trump.

The recent polling from the Wall Street Journal also saw Trump leading Biden in six swing states and tying in Wisconsin. Five of these key swing states, Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, had gone to Biden in the 2020 presidential election.
