As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, President-elect Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he was nominating Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) to be America’s next Secretary of State. Assuming he is confirmed, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will have an opportunity to appoint his replacement to serve until the next scheduled federal election in two years.

Naturally, speculation has run wild on who will replace Rubio, but one person has emerged as a clear favorite from Trump supporters: the President-elect’s daughter-in-law and Eric Trump’s wife, Lara.

While Lara Trump was born and raised in North Carolina, she has resided in Florida for the last three years. As TGP readers know, she is also the co-chair of the Republican National Committee, having presided over the most successful election cycle for Republicans in decades.

Not only has her potential selection received endorsements from influential online MAGA figures, but it has also reached Capitol Hill.

Support for her in Congress ranges from MAGA favorites such as Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) and Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) but also from more establishment though still conservative figures such as Senator Katie Britt (R-AL).

During an appearance on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show on Thursday, Lara was asked about the massive support from MAGA nation for her to serve as Florida’s next senator. While she did not directly suggest DeSantis appoint her, she certainly did not close the door.

LARA TRUMP: If I am able to serve, I would love to serve the people of Florida. This is my home state now and has been for three years.

This is where Eric and I live, and to truly have that opportunity would be incredible. No one knows the America First agenda or the goals of Donald Trump in the coming four years.

So, if I am asked, I would love to consider it, but I have yet to have a conversation with Governor DeSantis. So we will have to see.

While DeSantis will ultimately make the final call, he can do far worse than appointing a strong, intelligent conservative like Lara Trump. America certainly does not have to worry about her going wobbly like so many current GOP senators.
