WATCH LIVE: DOJ briefs press on investigation of WHCA dinner shooter

The alleged gunman, identified as 31-year-old Cole Allen of California, was hit with three federal charges during his court arraignment two days after the incident. In his manifesto, Allen said he believed it was his duty to target officials in the Trump administration.

President Donald Trump, his Cabinet officials, and others were promptly evacuated after the suspect rushed past security officers who opened fire. Gunshots were heard from inside the Washington Hilton’s ballroom, where the annual media dinner was held this year.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, FBI Director Kash Patel, and U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro will start briefing the press at 3 p.m. Monday.
