The total budget request for the War Department amounts to $1.5 trillion, representing a 42-44% increase over previous levels. If approved in its current form, the budget will allocate $65.8 billion to the U.S. Navy’s “Golden Fleet” shipbuilding efforts, a key national security priority of the department.

The hearing is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
