The House Rules Committee is meeting to discuss a number of bills to bring to the floor aimed at blocking some of President Joe Biden’s policies.
The Choice in Automobile Retail Sales Act of 2023 would prevent the Environmental Protection Agency from finalizing its new proposed rule released in April 2023 aiming to scale up sales of electric cars and trucks nationwide. The bill would amend the Clean Air Act and block the EPA’s “Multi-Pollutant Emissions Standards for Model Years 2027 and Later Light-Duty and Medium-Duty Vehicles” rule, which would require 67% of all new car, truck, and van sales to be electric by 2032.

Another bill aims to tighten foreign gift reporting requirements for colleges and universities and their faculty members. The Defending Education Transparency and Ending Rogue Regimes Engaging in Nefarious Transactions Act would amend Section 117 of the Higher Education Act and require colleges to report donations from foreign entities over $50,000, up from the current requirement starting at $250,000.
