Albanese’s visit is part of a landmark deal called AUKUS, which is a key move in Biden’s efforts to rally U.S. allies in Europe and the Indo-Pacific region to enhance economic competition with China. The visit highlights the president’s long-term goals even as war rages in Ukraine and Israel.
Biden and Albanese will discuss a partnership between the U.S. and Australia to build maritime infrastructure and lay undersea cables to strengthen internet connectivity, senior Biden administration officials told the Associated Press.
