WATCH LIVE: Schumer gives speech on antisemitism on Senate floor

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), the highest-ranking Jewish member of Congress, is giving a speech on antisemitism on the Senate floor.

The speech is slated to begin at 10 a.m. In a statement, his office clarified there was a difference between legitimate criticism of the state of Israel and antisemitism.

“Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) will give a major address standing in solidarity with Jewish Americans in the face of rising antisemitism across the country,” a statement from Schumer’s office read. “Since the horrific attack on Israel on October 7th by Hamas, there has been a 400% spike in antisemitic attacks across the United States.”

“Too often in Jewish history, religious, economic and political crises, as well as legitimate criticism against Israeli policies, has devolved into antisemitic tropes and discrimination. As the highest-ranking Jewish official in American History, Leader Schumer will speak out against this disturbing trend.”
