WATCH LIVE: Schumer holds press conference ahead of possible government shutdown

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is holding his weekly press conference as the government appears likely to shut down on Sunday at 12:01 a.m.

Schumer’s press conference comes as more than a dozen Senate Democrats have called on Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) to resign after he was indicted on bribery charges last week. The New York Democrat has acknowledged the seriousness of the charges against Menendez but has not called on him to step down.

The press conference also comes a day after Schumer announced the Senate had agreed to a bipartisan stopgap bill to continue to fund the government, but the bill does not look likely to pass in the GOP-led House of Representatives.
