Biden provided updates to the prime minister regarding active “diplomatic engagement” being conducted by the U.S. on behalf of Israel since learning of the attack. He informed Netanyahu that additional assistance for the Israeli Defense Forces was already on the way, and there would be more available as the conflict continued.

The White House stated that the men will be in regular contact as Israel grapples with the attack and its implications.

Vice President Kamala Harris also spoke with Israeli President Isaac Herzog Sunday, according to an additional White House readout. Harris reiterated Biden’s characterization of the attack by Hamas terrorists as “unprecedented” and “appalling.” She additionally reassured the president that the U.S.’s commitment to Israel will not waver.

Herzog has also spoken to Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

On a call with reporters Sunday, a senior administration official revealed that various administration national security officials have been speaking with their Israeli counterparts since gaining knowledge of the attack. Further, the administration has been in contact with leaders of various surrounding Middle Eastern countries.

Per the official, Biden called King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan, whom he will also be staying in regular contact with.

Blinken, in particular, spoke with President of the Palestine Authority Mahmoud Abbas and his official counterparts in Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Italy, and other countries. Further, Acting Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland and Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Barbara Leaf have been engaged with regional counterparts throughout the day, which include G7 members, European countries, and the Lebanese.

Asked about concerns about the terrorist group Hezbollah, based in Lebanon, launching its own attack on Israel and taking advantage of its vulnerable position, the senior White House official reiterated that strong warnings are being issued against any hostile entity attempting to take advantage.

There is significant communication throughout American military chains of command and regular coordination with Israel to anticipate the country’s need amid the terrorist threat, they indicated, without addressing specific aid or numbers.

As for what is being considered a serious intelligence failure, the White House did not offer any information to reporters on the potential implications. The official explained that deep intelligence will be provided to Israel continuously in a close manner as the new war drags on. The White House consistently shares timely threats in the region with its partners, but they noted it does so, especially with Israel.

The official also claimed that allegations that Egypt or another country had provided warnings of this attack prior to it being carried out were inaccurate, saying it was not something the White House had been informed of.
