Woman Plunges To Her Death At Major US Airport, Police Say

A 38-year-old woman plunged to her death Saturday afternoon at Indianapolis International Airport in Indianapolis, Indiana, police said.

Dispatchers stationed inside the Airport Operations Center were watching the feeds when they saw the woman go over the outer curb of Upper Terminal Drive, according to a police report obtained by FOX59. Officers with the airport police department and personnel from the airport fire department responded, the outlet reported. Airport authorities and a crew from the Plainfield Fire Territory provided medical aid. The police report contained no further details about the exact cause or manner of her death, the outlet reported.

Emergency crews performed CPR on the woman for approximately 30 minutes in an attempt to save her life, but the effort failed, WRTV reported. A University Health Methodist Hospital doctor declared her dead over the phone, police said. The Indianapolis Airport Authority confirmed the fatality in a brief public statement obtained by the outlet and placed the time at approximately 12:19 p.m.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office (MCCO) reached the airport at 1:47 p.m., according to WTHR. Investigators have not made the woman’s identity public as of publication. Airport police confirmed the case remains under active investigation in a statement to the outlet.
