Is Yermak taking the fall for ‘Vova’?

We have long been reporting on the fall of Volodymyr Zelensky’s right-hand man, Andriy Yermak, now officially charged with money laundering in the ‘Operation Midas’ corruption investigation.

Watch: Yermak arrives at Ukraine’s High Anti-Corruption Court.

And now, his prospects for fleeing Ukraine like Zelensky’s partner Timur Mindich have diminished, as he is arrested and surrenders his passports.

Reuters reported:

“Ukraine’s anti-corruption court on Thursday ordered ‌the arrest of Andriy Yermak, a close ally of President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and former head of his administration, on money-laundering charges.

The court also set bail at 140 million ‌hryvnias ($3.19 million), which would allow Yermak, who has denied the allegations against him, to be released pending a final ruling in his case.”

“Former head of Ukraine’s Presidential Office Andriy Yermak has been placed under arrest for two months with bail set at 140 million hryvnias. Yermak was not taken into custody immediately — he has five days to post bail or appeal the decision.

The court ruled that if bail is paid, Yermak must wear an electronic ankle monitor, remain in Kyiv, surrender his international and diplomatic passports, and avoid contact with several suspects and witnesses in the case.

After the hearing, the former Presidential Office chief said he does not admit guilt and plans to appeal the ruling: ‘I am staying in Ukraine. I have nothing to hide.’

He also stated that he does not have the money for bail, and that his lawyers will look for funds among friends and acquaintances.”
