The Republican candidates for president in the 2024 presidential race have stood in solidarity with Israel after Hamas struck in a multi-front attack that killed at least 40.

Several of the leading Presidential candidates posted support for Israel on Saturday. The country was attacked by Hamas when the group fired thousands of rockets and sent dozens of fighters into the Gaza Strip. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that “we are at war.” and is reciprocating.

Former President Donald Trump and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) paired their support for Israel with direct attacks on President Joe Biden‘s support for Iran, a close partner and patron of Hamas.

“These Hamas attacks are a disgrace and Israel has every right to defend itself with overwhelming force,” Trump said in a statement. “Sadly, American taxpayer dollars helped fund these attacks, which many reports are saying came from the Biden Administration. We brought so much peace to the Middle East through the Abraham Accords, only to see Biden whittle it away at a far more rapid pace than anyone thought possible. Here we go again.”

“Hamas’ terrorist attack on Israel today is an assault on Western Civilization,” Scott posted. “The truth is though, Joe Biden funded these attacks on Israel. America’s weakness is blood in the water for bad actors, but this is worse than that. We didn’t just invite this aggression, we paid for it. Iran is the biggest funder of Hamas. This is the Biden $6 billion ransom payment at work.”

Scott referred to the Biden administration waiving sanctions for a $6 billion transaction from South Korea to Qatar as part of a prisoner swap in September.

“The dastardly terrorist attacks perpetrated against innocent Israeli civilians by Iran-backed terror group Hamas deserve a swift and lethal response,” Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) posted on X. “Israel not only has the right to defend itself against these attacks, it has a duty to respond with overwhelming force.”

Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND) echoed similar remarks.

“Iran and its terror sponsors in Gaza are showing the world their true face: pure evil,” Burgum posted. “Israel is at war with brutal terrorists and the United States must provide maximum support to our democratic ally. Our prayers go up for the all the victims of these horrific attacks.”

Other candidates have remained quiet as of Saturday morning, not posting any statements of support for the U.S. allied nation.

Most of the Republican candidates continue to support providing Israeli aid, although former executive Vivek Ramaswamy has stated that he is in favor of ending U.S. support of Israel.
