Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D-CA) press office seemingly mocked President Donald Trump’s limited-edition passport on Tuesday, posting what appears to be its own rendition of a Truth Social post.
Hours later, Newsom’s press office released an image of what it said is a new license for Californians. It shows an image of Newsom in front of a mountain range and California poppies, California’s state flower.
“IT WILL FEATURE A HANDSOME, HIGH-QUALITY PHOTO OF ME, GAVIN C. NEWSOM,” the post reads. “MANY PEOPLE ARE SAYING IT’S THE BEST LICENSE EVER MADE IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD. THIS IS ABOUT CELEBRATING OUR BEAUTIFUL STATE (IT IS NOT ABOUT ME, DESPITE THE VERY HANDSOME PHOTO!). ENJOY! — GOVERNOR GCN.”
IN HONOR OF CALIFORNIA’S 175TH ANNIVERSARY, WE WILL BE ROLLING OUT A VERY SPECIAL DRIVER’S LICENSE FOR EVERY CALIFORNIAN THIS SUMMER! IT WILL FEATURE A HANDSOME, HIGH-QUALITY PHOTO OF ME, GAVIN C. CALIFORNIA TO HAND OVER DRIVER’S LICENSE DATA AFTER DHS THREATS
The format closely follows Trump’s posting style, often riddled with capitalized words, and signed in some variation of “President DONALD J. TRUMP” or “President DJT.”
The governor reshared the post on his personal page.
