Stimulus update: Direct payment worth $1,312 to be sent to some Alaska residents in two days – Washington Examiner

In two days, the Alaska Department of Revenue is scheduled to send out payments from the Permanent Fund Dividend to another batch of residents who have yet to receive their checks from the program.

The state will issue this latest round of PFD payments on Thursday to those who had the “Eligible-Not Paid” status as of last Wednesday and have not gotten their checks from the program from 2023 or earlier.

To qualify for the state program, Alaskans seeking the payment must intend to remain a resident of the state indefinitely and may not be a convicted felon, among other stipulations.

The Permanent Fund Dividend check amounts each year are determined by the state’s annual mineral revenues. The checks being sent to eligible Alaska residents in the coming days come from 2023 or earlier.

The 2023 payment from the Permanent Fund Dividend was worth $1,312, and the distribution of the checks began in October.

“The 2023 PFD marks the 42nd year Alaskans have received their share of the state’s natural resource wealth,” Alaska Department of Revenue Commissioner Adam Crum said in a statement about the 2023 payment. “I would like to thank our Permanent Fund Dividend Division for their tireless work year-round in administering the program and processing the applications.”

“This year, we processed over 8,000 more applications than in 2022,” Crum said. “The 2023 PFD will inject nearly $1 billion into the state’s economy and directly into the hands of Alaskans.”
