Mob of thieves uses government vehicle to smash into and raid LA County store

A mob of over a dozen criminals used a government vehicle Sunday to smash through the entrance of a Los Angeles County black-owned retailer before raiding the location for its merchandise, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 4:45 a.m. when the criminals used a gray sedan to back into Hype Kingdom, a store specializing in the sale of clothes, shoes, and other trending products, according to a report citing the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

After breaking through the entrance, the hooded and masked group flooded into the store and left with their arms full of merchandise, video of the crime posted to Hype Kingdom’s social media shows.

An exact total of the merchandise stolen in the crash-and-grab has not been confirmed, but the store owners estimate at least 500 items are missing, the report noted.

The effects of the crime may prove fatal for Hype Kingdom, and no arrests related to the incident have been reported.

“Due to these unfortunate circumstances, the planned opening of our Huntington Park location is now delayed,” a statement on the business’s website said. “Hype Kingdom, owned and operated by a dedicated young entrepreneur, may face challenging times regardless of insurance coverage.”

“While we continuously aim to provide top-notch products and services to our customers and community, we anticipate closure for the foreseeable future.”
