Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) said House Republicans are pushing for the impeachment of President Joe Biden over a “nonscandal.”
“Why would we want to drag ourselves down into impeachment over a nonscandal? I think it’s because Donald Trump is obviously running for president and doesn’t want to be the only guy on the ballot who has been impeached before,” the Maryland Democrat said to NBC’s Meet the Press.

The ranking member of the House Oversight Committee said the former president was “impeached for good reason.”
“He incited a violent insurrection,” he said.
Raskin released a 14-page memo on Monday morning rejecting Republican efforts to investigate the president and his son Hunter Biden after lawmakers returned from the August recess.
“Instead of working on legislation to promote the common good or even just keep the government running, House Republicans are weaponizing their offices and exploiting congressional power and resources to promote debunked and outlandish conspiracy theories about President Biden,” Raskin said.
Raskin, who led the Democratic efforts in Trump’s second impeachment over the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, called comparisons to Joe Biden and Trump a “false moral equivalency.”
